(SPort Aiding Medical Research for KidS).

Initial cost of membership: £550 per annum

Discount for Founder Members: £50

Further discount for Family Membership (ie two persons): £50 (husband and wife membership is therefore set at £950 pa)

How it works

It is our intention to launch this club with four horses in training and we have chosen successful trainers spread geographically across the south of England: Rod Millman (Devon), Richard Phillips (Gloucestershire), Jim Boyle (Epsom) and Jamie Osborne (Lambourn). There will be two two-year-olds, an older horse for the Flat and a National Hunt prospect, two of them having been purchased and the other two leased.

Further purchases (Flat and National Hunt) are expected to be made as membership grows.

£50 from each subscription received will be donated to SPARKS.

Membership benefits will include:

  • stable visits
  • race-day badges (owners’ passes by rotation and subject to availability)
  • a share of any prize money won
  • regular newsletters
  • emailed information on the horses’ progress
  • tipping line
  • club logo lapel pin
  • social functions.

10% of any prize money won will be donated to SPARKS.

BBC presenter Clare Balding will continue as Patron of Horses for Causes and we will enlist the support of other sporting and racing celebrities as ambassadors.

As the club grows, we will place horses with successful young trainers, initially across the south of England and eventually nationwide.

We are currently in discussion with a number of corporate sponsoring partners who will assist in the development of this unique club.
