Clare Balding and John Dunbar4 February 2007

Subscribers and guests of H4C gathered at Tandridge Golf Club on Friday, 2 February for an annual dinner to celebrate the past year's achievements and look forward to the opportunities in store for the organisation.

H4C patron Clare Balding was the guest of honour, and following an excellent three-course meal, she entertained everyone with her sparkling wit and hilarious anecdotes, particularly at the expense of her BBC Sport colleague Willie Carson.

Clare's brother and H4C trainer Andrew Balding was also in attendance, as were Pippa Muggeridge, who is currently looking after Kiss Chase at her Dorking yard, and Epsom-based trainer Jim Boyle.

Brave Jack has now had his first two runs, and put in promising performances while showing his greenness.

Trainer John Best has spoken of our three-year-old's mental immaturity, but stresses that once Brave Jack grasps what is expected of him, he will be a horse to follow. John Best's confidence in our gelding is reflected by the fact that he also has his two-year-old half brother, a colt by King's Best out of Brave Jack's dam Zaynah.

Brave Jack is likely to run again in mid February - watch this space for more news.
